Preparing for a Disaster

Before you can help your neighbors, be sure you and your family are prepared and safe in a disaster. Develop a Family Disaster Plan, which should include;

• Escape and Meet-up Locations

• Out-of-state "Check-in" Contact

• One or more Disaster Supply Kits

• Mitigation of hazards around your home

• Know how to use a fire extinguisher

• Knowing how to shut-off your utilities

• Read the Prepare with CERT document and print out (and keep in an easy to reach place) the Help or OK sign
